Reading the old Inception thread and people thought the clothing looked dated on that too.

Freaking yes!!

After months of waiting, we finally get our first look at the set, the lead actors, the crew, and the camera all in one photo!

1. This confirms that Mr. Washington and Mr. Pattinson are allies, not enemies. Who then could the antagonist be? Ms. Debicki?

2. The camera says "Panavision" or something. Is that just housing for the IMAX camera, or is it regular 65 mm?

3. Why are the crew members wearing those traffic safety vests?

The clothing in Inception or Interstellar weren't exactly next year's fashion either. I definitely feel like this is set in present day or near future.
Modern day is more likely, and yeah these clothes looks like some kind of retro but it stills very neutral and can be actual in today's world.

"innovative" "I feel he must have invented something new"

don't forget these words guys, whatever it is, it'll be very special.

So I think it's too easy to resume it as a simple espionnage/spy film with vilains etc...
In my opinion.

It's Nolan, the guy who made a WWII experimental thriller.

1. they could turn out to be enemies still
2. IMAX camera's look like a giant box, without a film roll on top of it. Also "IMAX" is always on the camera lol often not when it's attached to a Helicopter though, then it's more sealed off. I'm fairly certain it's a 65mm camera and it looks to be a dialogue scene to begin with so 65mm makes more sense than IMAX. Then again, they tried quite some new things with IMAX camera's in Dunkirk so who knows.
IMAX film always rolls horizontally through the camera.
3. they're part of the crew to give clear directions to the drivers, is what it looks like to me.

I just love those costumes btw

And there is always a timeless approach in his films. Either in the clothing or anything else.
I mean, looks also at the modern houses there were in the background for Dunkirk, it was his will.

There are only three potential roles for Ms. Debicki:

1. Villain
2. Damsel in distress
3. Dead wife

I'm just trolling

I can see Branagh being an antagonist. It would be nice if his role is the complete opposite of his Dunkirk role. Same with Caine honestly.

Absolutely no one is wearing Pattinson's shoes today, for me it's certain that they are 2 guys of the 70s/80s traveling in time.

lmao aren’t those just a pair of oxfords though. most people who aren’t teens and/or aren’t into trendy street wear will own a pair of them or a similar kind

besides, washington’s jacket is definitely something you can see in 2019 quite a bit

the film might not be set in late 2010s but the clothing isn’t so horribly archaic, most of nolan’s fashun isn’t very trendy, nor can it be very strictly defined by an era (sans his period pieces ofc)
