Does anyone have box office earnings percentages by film?
It's gotta be like 60% tenet 40% everything else right?

Nolan right now:Paradoxicalparabola wrote: ↑September 21st, 2020, 1:24 pmThe "saving cinema" was never a real thing to begin with (I don’t know why some people keep going on and on about that), and I don’t remember WB or Nolan claiming Tenet would save them (if I’m not mistaken that was something written in articles) but that they wanted to help theaters through their hardship although they more than likely knew that eventually it would have to be a collective work because one film can’t save them overall, it’s just unrealistic to think otherwise. I didn’t agree for the most part with Tenet coming out during this time for different reasons, but I respect them for taking the hit to help theaters, which they knew would happen in one way or another as well. Wrong decision? I can agree although they were aware of the risks. But we know it and it’s already done now so there’s no point in thinking about it. Therefore, just wonder how Tenet and theaters will do going forward with the film running for a longer time. That’s all we can do, and what WB and Nolan can hope to be beneficial for the movie and theaters for the moment.Caped Crusader wrote: ↑September 21st, 2020, 8:35 amTo be honest “One movie saving cinema” concept was wrong from the beginning. TENET is good movie but even if we considered Nolan’s highest grossing even with inflation, it wouldn’t be more than $1.4B and even that amount can’t save worldwide cinema.
Hats off to Nolan and team for standing firm with their decision and even trying hard but it wasn’t a good decision.
He’s a renowned director although not everybody knows his name let alone what movies the guy has made. The ongoing situation has people interested in other things (like netflix maybe since they probably don’t want to go to cinemas) more than whatever is in theaters or if the aforementioned are open for that matter like you kind of said. Disney’s brand is practically a household name not to mention the movie (Mulan) has a certain nostalgia power, yet they didn’t release it like WB did with Tenet because more likely than not the company knows (WB too but they took the risk anyway) how difficult things are for the theater experience at the moment.MuffinMcFluffin wrote: ↑September 21st, 2020, 9:26 pmOHL THET WUZ LAEFFT EEN THA VOLTS WUH MAHKED BILLZ! Sorry, I pretty much had to.
This whole situation is really kind of sad, though. After having seen Tenet, while binge-watching Sons of Anarchy with my mother in quarantine, TV spots came on ads at least once per episode for the movie and she was clearly watching them (as she would comment on/quote every other ad that would pop up, and for this she would say "Is that the Twilight boy?"). Yet, she is still completely 1000% unaware of the film's existence or that any movie theaters are actually opened up anywhere in the country. I can't imagine that a lot of people really much know what Tenet is.
And it's nobody's fault, really... but it even surprises me that the likes of Honest Trailers, Pitch Meetings, Cinemasins, etc. completely neglected Dunkirk, and PM has yet to hit Tenet despite the fact that it jumped right on Mulan (to be fair, perhaps he went VOD for Mulan and hasn't yet jumped into any theaters yet). As much of blockbusters than Nolan's movies are, it's weird that outside of Batman you can really hit obscurity with some of his latest post-TDKR. He definitely isn't a household name, that's for true.
Regardless of what anyone thinks their favorite Nolan film is, The Dark Knight is still the very centre of Nolan's filmography. Joker was the heart, his acting was brilliant. Since then, there have been five movies but no noteworthy performance of an actor in them. Ask people and an actor winning Oscar for working in his film doesn't even come to their mind.MuffinMcFluffin wrote: ↑September 21st, 2020, 9:26 pmOHL THET WUZ LAEFFT EEN THA VOLTS WUH MAHKED BILLZ! That's exactly what my point is! Nolan and Warner Bros said it is made to experience in Theatres, articles made it as "Theatre Saving Concept". I just feel bad that a good movie like this will not earn as much as it deserves and not to talk about things such as piracy.Paradoxicalparabola wrote: ↑September 21st, 2020, 1:24 pmThe "saving cinema" was never a real thing to begin with (I don’t know why some people keep going on and on about that), and I don’t remember WB or Nolan claiming Tenet would save them (if I’m not mistaken that was something written in articles) but that they wanted to help theaters through their hardship although they more than likely knew that eventually it would have to be a collective work because one film can’t save them overall, it’s just unrealistic to think otherwise. I think Mathew McConaughey should have been nominated for Interstellar.blackColumn wrote: ↑September 22nd, 2020, 3:17 amRegardless of what anyone thinks their favorite Nolan film is, The Dark Knight is still the very centre of Nolan's filmography. Chastain or Foy in Interstellar. Rylance in Dunkirk.mosh89 wrote: ↑September 22nd, 2020, 3:57 pmI think Mathew McConaughey should have been nominated for Interstellar.blackColumn wrote: ↑September 22nd, 2020, 3:17 amRegardless of what anyone thinks their favorite Nolan film is, The Dark Knight is still the very centre of Nolan's filmography. He gave a fantastic emotional performance.
The ensemble cast in inception had great chemistry too.
