This article about cinemas in South Korea is worth reading. Clearly, socially distanced theaters with people wearing masks can and do work.
This article about cinemas in South Korea is worth reading. Clearly, socially distanced theaters with people wearing masks can and do work.
The country has never had a full lockdown and as experts note, although certain cinemas were shut down (and later reopened) after infected people were traced to having visited them, none have been identified as infection vectors in the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Korean cinemas have much safer systems than restaurants or cafes. That’s the reason why we’ve not had to shut down during the pandemic – even if infected people have visited cinemas, no one has gotten infected at a cinema. Everyone wears masks and is facing forward,” says Jung.
The US is averaging 50,000-60,000 cases a day. There will be spread if theaters are opened.X-MementoMori-X wrote: ↑July 27th, 2020, 1:49 pmAren‘t you a bit dramatic?Jesus of Suburbia wrote: ↑July 27th, 2020, 1:40 pmPoint is people will make the comparison and won’t feel safe. You can't compare schools to theaters. You just can't.
Theaters can have 25% capacity, but if a classroom has your students or don't, it's a binary condition of either 100% (take absent folk) or 0%. Students would be ungoverned during passing periods and lunch to intermingle, classrooms are much smaller than movie theaters with significantly lower ceilings and less funding to consider components such as filtering their ventilation system (though you can open windows in most classrooms), materials are passed back and forth in droves and desks are shared without being able to be cleaned between periods for lack of custodial staff for several dozens of classrooms, and instead of only being at school for a couple of hours, you re there for about seven hours in the day.
It's just an inconceivable practice for schools to operate in this fashion at this point in time.
No, movie theaters will receive a lot of backlash because of this. This film may receive some notoriety in articles that mention this is the movie people are watching, but this movie doesn't play if the theaters aren't open. WB isn't strong-arming anybody, here.Jesus of Suburbia wrote: ↑July 27th, 2020, 1:40 pmPoint is people will make the comparison and won’t feel safe. People will die because of this. Polls show people don’t feel safe going to the theater right now. Schools want to be close due to safety issues but theaters are safe to go. That is a great message to send people.

well, movie theatres SHOULD receive a lot of backlash because of this. But if we look at how headlines have been these past few months, they basically write themselves and we all know how this will play out. The whole chair thing alone kind of shows what bs outlets will write to get clicks.MuffinMcFluffin wrote: ↑July 27th, 2020, 2:12 pmNo, movie theaters will receive a lot of backlash because of this. Who cares? Nolan will get whatever budget he needs for any of his upcoming films. This is great for us, the fans.
I would rather wait a year. See it full crowd of people. Like I said I would like Nolan to
Climb up the box office charts and not to have a bomb. What if second wave happens and all theaters close after two or three weeks.
