I've been thinking for a while now that this is a "smaller" movie. Same size as The Prestige and Insomnia.

And I still think it's possible that we're getting one of these:

- Mr. Hughes
- Hell and Gone
- The Keys to the Street

Any Nolan film is an event film now; I don't think budget has anything to do with it.

Every time Spielberg, Scorsese, or Tarantino have a new film out, those are event films. Same case here.

In view of these recent statements to the exhibitors (“What we never want to forget is the idea of showmanship, whatever the economic realities are, whatever costs need to be cut or corners need to be cut... The pressure is on us as never before to give people a reason to get out of the house.”) it would be very surprising if he make a smaller movie.

Nolan's position in the industry is unprecedented. He can literally do whatever he wants.

Neglecting such a privilege would be a new level of stupid. He's not going back anytime soon.

That doesn't mean he's reckless.

They intentionally asked for a "lower" budget on Dunkirk than Warner was actually willing to offer.

He's not going to make a massively budgeted movie just because.

Nolan's position is not "unprecedented", lol. Lots of directors get "carte blanche" on projects (and not really). And even then, Nolan is not in a position to ask for as high a budget as he wants. He can't make whatever he wants. I think a lot of people misunderstand that.

So he's in a position never seen before and he's in a completely different league than James Cameron, Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Michael Bay, Ridley Scott, Quentin Tarantino, Tim Burton, and David Fincher? Come on man, get your head out of your ass.

Nolan's one of the best directors ever and he's personally my number one favorite, but let's not be delusional. He's in an awesome, rare position, but it's not something unheard of. He makes big blockbusters and he's on an awesome winning streak. He's able to have bigger budgets than most directors because his product is always reliable.

um, it's definitely not Keys to the Street, for a few reasons:

1) it was written on spec
2) it's been shopped around by other directors/agents/companies - with various actors attached for years
3) it's not a very good script

An "event movie" means a large scale summer blockbuster. All these guesses are so far off lol. Do you guys even base them on reality???????? It will be a large sc-fi or action or adventure movie. There is no doubt about that simply based on the description "event movie" and the release date which is summer.
