Absolutely. Truly one of the most beautiful looking films ever made.NotoriousWolf wrote:Wow. Just Wow. Give Hoyte the Oscar.

Poor Deakins if Hoyte sneaks in and pulls the rug out from under him. Everyone just assumed it would be Deakins because the BR2049 trailers look gorgeous too, but Dunkirk is certainly deserving of serious consideration in this category. Lots of time though before awards season begins. They might just forget about Dunkirk by then.
I never quite understood this. How does one "forget" about a movie?redfirebird2008 wrote:Poor Deakins if Hoyte sneaks in and pulls the rug out from under him. That "Oscar season" thing never makes sense.
Another movie opens to rave reviews and steals your buzz/thunder. It happens all the time. The important film festivals where most Oscar contenders debut, e.g. Venice/Telluride/Toronto, happen later in the year.MuffinMcFluffin wrote:I never quite understood this. This might be the hype speaking, but am I the only one who believes this is Nolan's best looking film? I did not expect to be this blown away by the visuals as the trailers somewhat underwhelmed it in that department. Truly fantastic stuff.
If Hoyte doesn't get recognized, I WILL RIOT.

I'm torn between this and Interstellar for his best looking film..... This should definitely get a nomination AT LEASTInnovator wrote:This might be the hype speaking, but am I the only one who believes this is Nolan's best looking film? This. But if I had to pick, I pick Dunkirk, because it's more recent.Innovator wrote:This might be the hype speaking, but am I the only one who believes this is Nolan's best looking film? I'm pretty sure it's either from Farrier's point of view, or it's a view from the Moonstone. I cannot remember which.okungnyo wrote:You guys/gals talking about that shotxWhereAmI? wrote:Oh shit yeah that was phenomenalMuffinMcFluffin wrote:Those two are great. Farrier gets the first shot, where you see it tipping away from him and you see the boat's inhabitants climbing to the side railings (might have been CGI people as well, I don't know for sure). There is a second shot where we see it fully go sideways, though... either from the air or the sea, I cannot remember which.
