I think slashfilm never liked Nolan.radewart wrote:The blowback may be starting a little bit with the blogger/journalist who are seeing the movie later than others

"In all seriousness though, DUNKIRK caters to Nolan's strengths & also shows his weaknesses. Bravura filmmaking but still cold. Not his best."

"Dunkirk is cinematically stunning and intense BUT I found the structure so needlessly confusing that I never got into the movie."

I think I'm a little more surprised by his choice of TDKR in the top 4. I can't put that one ahead of Batman Begins, Interstellar, or Inception. But I'm good with anyone who puts The Prestige in Nolan's Top 3.bootsy wrote:This guy thinks TDK is his best film. Those two guys don't write reviews though. So their opinions should be taken with a pinch of salt.radewart wrote:The blowback may be starting a little bit with the blogger/journalist who are seeing the movie later than others

The Hollywood Elsewhere blogger who has been pretty sarcastic about Dunkirk before he saw it is raving about the film now that he got a chance to see it.

Why? Because their opinion isn't highly positive?GamingFreak wrote:Those two guys don't write reviews though. So their opinions should be taken with a pinch of salt.radewart wrote:The blowback may be starting a little bit with the blogger/journalist who are seeing the movie later than others

Too bad he/she doesn't appear to be on Rotten Tomatoes.redfirebird2008 wrote:The Hollywood Elsewhere blogger who has been pretty sarcastic about Dunkirk before he saw it is raving about the film now that he got a chance to see it.

Cineastes who despise Spielberg's manipulative bullshit are going to ADORE "Dunkirk." Nolan has created a lordly & majestic masterpiece.
some strong words, no doubt
One of the other reviews threw Matt Reeves under the bus. Total crap approach in my opinion. Spielberg of course is amazing and Reeves is proving himself to be a great director too. But at least Wells didn't hate the movie. Sure seemed like he wanted to based on his blog posts in recent weeks.rickfox wrote:I quoteredfirebird2008 wrote:The Hollywood Elsewhere blogger who has been pretty sarcastic about Dunkirk before he saw it is raving about the film now that he got a chance to see it.

I think it's fair to bring up Saving Private Ryan when talking about Dunkirk, since that's the obvious comparison that everyone will jump to.redfirebird2008 wrote:One of the other reviews threw Matt Reeves under the bus.
