I'm not sure why RIFA thinks this films score doesn't have that strong a shot. Pretty much everyone, even those that didn't like the movie, admit this was exceptional work from Hans Zimmer. I would say the score is one of the most guaranteed locks from this movie, and most likely the one that will win too.

Because of the same reason Vader mentioned in the post above me. It can easily be disqualified so it's nomination is for sure not something guaranteed. And if it does get nominated then for it to win the competition will have to be incredibly weak. This OST, while brilliant in it's own way, it's more of a stylized ticking clock than a traditional orchestral composition. Which is the problem. I'm 100% convinced we'll get some fantastic traditional scores by the end of the year which will eclipse Zimmer's work.

Trying not think too much about awards, but I'm confident it will manage to be nominated for:

Best Picture
Best Cinematography
Best Sound Mixing
Best Sound Editing
Best Film Editing
Best Production Design

These however are 50/50 chances, imo:

Best Director
Best Visual Effects
Best Original Score

I agree with your Most Likely, but I think Best Cinematography should be on that list. As for the acting nom's, I think Branagh might have a crack at it. He really stood out for me.

Also, I literally didn't even notice the score in this film. It wasn't distracting, so that was good, but it played no part in my enjoyment of this film.

It's really stupid that this isn't a slam dunk for cinematography.

Don't know why, But I have a feeling that Dunkirk will eventually win the Best Picture award. I think the Academy have yet to award a large scale blockbuster this decade with the biggest award of the night. Everyone seems to be gushing about it. It has the emotion, the subject material, and the technicalities to really pull through. It's Christopher Nolan's year.
