The trajectory of the numbers says otherwise.rbej wrote:Like 500M worldwide. Impossible.

Until it opens in Chin/Italy/Japan, saying it's impossible is not very honest. A 190/230 (420 total) outside of those territories is not unreasonable at all.rbej wrote:Like 500M worldwide. Impossible.Lionheart wrote:Three lackluster days in a row. The 200M dream is dying
I don't think there's a single country in which Hacksaw Ridge made more than Dunkirk. That one made 62M there. Could have been a great release date, maybe Chinese really wanted to see japanese getting slaughtered, yada yada yada, but from my perspective the data shows clearly that it's very reasonable to think Dunkirk will, at least match that number. I had read (i'm not sure it was in this boards) that the South Korea smaller run (than expected) from Dunkirk could indicate a troublesome China run. Hacksaw made 1M in SK. Dunkirk 20. Not a very strong correlation it seems. If it flops enormously there, it's a surprise.

It's been noted that Dunkirk is following Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation's domestic pattern almost exactly:

Great Saturday and great Os number. Did it open anywhere? The split between us-os actually went down! For a 190M US, without moving one way or the other this would mean almost 450 without China/Japan/Italy. A 43%split would be over 440+.
More confident about 500, less about the 200 (not dead though!)
