Nolan's Dunkirk isn't the second feature film about Operation Dynamo but the fourth : there was "Dunkirk" (1958), "Week-end à Zuydcoote" (1964) and "Atonement" (2007). "Week-end à Zuydcoote" is based on a novel written by Robert Merle who was taken prisoner during the real events. That's one of my favorite war movie with some of the best French actors of the sixties (Belmondo, Marielle...). And it's a really disillusioned script... from a French point of view, Dunkirk is more a shameful episode than a glorious one.
Don't forget Mrs. Miniver from 1942! It's not directly about the event like Nolan's film and the others mentioned, but the evacuation plays a part in the story.

"That "extra" in the teaser is not an extra.
He was directed to respond that way for a narrative reason."

How the hell does that guy seem to have all this insider info with various productions? He must work at Warner Brothers or something.

I heard his audition involved having to draw a maze within two minutes for Nolan to solve.
