He's covered a lot of the main sci-fi tenets now- space travel, time travel (of a sort), teleportation in The Prestige, introspective mind-ready stuff in Inception... parallel universes is the main one he hasn't done, but with Christopher Priest publishing The Adjacent (which deals with the same subject) and the schism between him and Nolan, he might decide to stay away from it. If that means he doesn't do another sci-fi film next, maybe an adventure-like film with a historical setting?

My only concern would be that he starts going lighter and more family-friendly if he went down that route- having already expressed a desire for mass appeal. But he clearly has an affinity for adventure films and 'working on the widest scale possible', and adventure films (like Interstellar partially is) offer a broader canvas than most, even if Earth-bound.

Regardless of actual plot, it would not surprise me if he makes a film with a nominally historical setting next, like The Prestige. Certain themes and set design etc. attached, but deliberately unreal and stylistic.

But I wish it would be Death & the Compass.
I would be very happy if Chris making an original project by his own script next. Look at Inception, Following and Memento, and partly on The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar, where the parts created by Christopher himself were much better than created by Jonathan, for example. I think that Christopher's vision of Interstellar is much much better than original Jonathan's vision, because it make more sense.

As for England boy's daydreams, I think they had a very big scale. And I think it's Sci-Fi with thriller, drama and detective elements. It might be about alternative realities, mixed with unusual stuff. Or something like that. So, keep waiting!

Teenage boys in England dream about far different things than teenage boys in America.

If he's going to release a new film in 2016 he'd have to start shooting something this summer no? That is, if it's going to be another big budget film.

I don't think we'll hear about his next directorial gig anytime soon. My guess is that he's taking his time writing on his next piece, while also positioning films he's looking to produce. He has earned some time off as well.

Hoping something will be announced for that Keith Gordon project (Gordon said in a podcast interview back in 2013 that he's still working on it).

This year I'm looking at Jonah and Westworld to give me that sweet nolan fix.

He is half American. He spent every Summer with his mother who lived in Chicago and Jonah in America. He is well versed in American culture.
