I'm a John G wrote:in regards to the performances, i have to agree that McC really kills it... which was surprising. i was expecting something more along the lines of Leo in Inception, where its a perfectly effective acting job but one that didn't require much. i was wrong. McC kills it, and adds so much nuance to his character that i feel like it's probably the best lead performance in a Nolan film since Guy Pearce in Memento. maybe not as transcendental as Ledger's Joker, but the emotional range McC finds and the nuances he discovers in Coop make it an extraordinary performance. i won't bother to rank the characters in this film as it's really unfair, though it's safe to say that McC, Irwin, and Damon completely stole the show. i'd say it's the best or second best lead performance of all of Nolan's movies, again, with Pearce as the benchmark.
Very cool. I expected this type of reaction for McC but the Irwin praise is great since he was such a fun character in Jonah's script. Also, I knew there had to be a reason Nolan cast Damon in this role. :ugeek:

Did anyone kind of not want/like the super narrative ending? I loveddd the movie and am still proccessing it. However, it just felt sort of silly and rushed and even the look of it didn't seem right with him going back to the future space station where they moved all the humans too. Idk

Do you guys remember the Empire article saying something about a "sublime match cut"? Now that the movie is out, anyone know what it was? I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was when
Cooper is watching grown-up Murph's first message. As it was ending, it cut to her back on Earth finishing the recording.
Was that it? If not, I completely missed it and need to be filled in lol

Saw it at the Chinese last night at 8pm..first of all, the bass was a little off, especially at the beginning of the film. It made the dialogue near-impossible to hear. Luckily, the problem disappeared rather quickly. Overall, I enjoyed the movie, but I guess I was hoping for it to be more like Inception. Interstellar is, in my mind, pure sci-fi. That's fine--it's just not my cup of tea. The acting was great, the score was great. Some of the specifics of the story completely lost me and it didn't help that some of the dialogue was difficult to hear clearly. Not my favorite Nolan film by a long shot, but still enjoyable. I will say this--Interstellar is far and away Nolan's most ambitious project and it's completely unlike anything he's ever done. Kudos to him. Also, shoutout to McC for being absolutely amazing. And TARS and CASE were simply awesome/hilarious.

I just got home from watching this at the AMC Metreon IMAX and well I don't really know what I think about the film. My freaking head is spinning right now. As for WOM, I don't know if this will get to the same level as Inception. Only two people clapped and I heard a few "sighs," but for the most part people were just like WTF?

They didn't include the shot from the teaser of Murph and Donald(?) holding hands as the rocket launched into space. :(
