The following best sums up my feelings about the movie.
Inception was a film about the head, that dazzled with its myriad of mental labyrinths. Interstellar is its counterpart a film that hits the heart so viscerally that only after the fact does your head begin to catch up.
I've seen the film twice: once at a special screening at ILM on Monday and then again last night. I am now ready to put my thoughts to paper.

Same here, lol. I clapped for a few seconds, then looked around awkwardly and laughed to myself.kanimaki wrote:I went to the local premiere and was the only one who clapped at the end. Going to watch it again in about 17 hours, can't wait to see all the things I missed.
This is the most ambitious film I've ever seen, I fucking loved every minute, but for the first time in Nolan's filmography, I can understand why some people will not like it, especially the 3rd act.
Why the third act? I personally thought that was the most exhilarating act of the film. Now Where Was I ? wrote:This is the most ambitious film I've ever seen, I fucking loved every minute, but for the first time in Nolan's filmography, I can understand why some people will not like it, especially the 3rd act.
I agree, but it is so unconventional that a lot of people will think that Nolan jumped the sharkMiracleSleeper2 wrote:Why the third act? McConaughey was incredible, Foy as well and I really enjoyed Hathaway on the casting department, I cant review it right now, this movie gives too much to digest in one single viewing
True. It's funny... it almost 'appears' fantasy, but if you pay attention to every detail and theme through out the film, it's completely grounded in what took place before hand. Now Where Was I ? wrote:I agree, but it is so unconventional that a lot of people will think that Nolan jumped the sharkMiracleSleeper2 wrote:Why the third act? I can't even think now. I was so blown away by it. I thought I'd like it but afraid I was just lying to myself like with Prometheus and would hate it.
I don't love it, I'm crazy about it even the bits I still don't understand. I just let them all hit me and knock me out.
I loved, loved, loved the
The theater was packed, nobody got up to go pee (but everybody had to including me). At the end about half the audience applauded. People were crying all over the place.
Is it just me or is Hans Zimmer's score (really beautiful) too loud? I couldn't hear some of the dialogue.
Acting honors:
McC
Foy
Chastain
Hathaway
Bill Irwin
Dr. Mann
Gyasi
All were excellent, McC, Foy, Chastain and Hathaway were fabulous. Wes Bentley, My Cocaine were OK but nothing special. Topher Grace, Casey Affleck didn't really register their roles were so small. Same with John Lithgow. Secret cameo right at the end was so sweet and I loved it. Made me cry.
One thing that really struck me was how bits in the trailer were in the film but were totally different in the film. I'd watched the trailers so many times I'd memorized them so I was surprised sometimes the bits weren't even filmed from the same angle in the film as in the trailers.
10/10 I think it's my favorite ever Nolan. We'll see when I see it a second time.

I know this has been discussed in the media, but what was with the sound mix? It may have cost itself the sound mixing Oscar with the dialogue often difficult to hear at crucial scenes.
