I don't think he had much of a decision to make. Caine's character made it pretty clear to him.

Leaving your children is an emotional decision, not a logical one. It's a believable choice, but it's emotionally and dramatically wobbly to spend so little time on it.

I was okay with it, but I know that's a subjective thing. Some will buy it, some won't.

I'm too scared to click those spoiler tags. Without spoilers, what did you think overall Vader? I'm curious about your opinion in particular.

ChristNolan wrote:I actually think it's one of Nolan's better edited films. A lot of creative and unique choices were made, hats off to Lee Smith.
The jump from saying goodbye to his kids straight to launch didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I quite liked that sequence.
The editing was definitely non-traditional. It was also very responsible for the pacing in the climaxes of the movie. I find it so hard to judge though because there are almost no films where you have to deal with nonlinear narrative, time lapses, and time dilation to compare it to. I have to watch it again.

the ending and the significance?

So how about the hand holding rocket launch shot
not even being in the movie?

Lol, I actually didn't even notice that it was omitted until I got back home and watched the featurette.

Sorry for double post, but this part of the film just came to me and I want to discuss it:
The part where Cooper hands Romley his earbuds so he can listen to the sounds of Earth and the camera cuts to the ship floating by a planet with those Earthly sounds playing. I have never seen anything like that, and it was simply a genius move by Nolan. Really amazing.

Has anyone who read Jonah's 2008 draft seen the movie? If so, how much has changed/how different is the final product (without spoilers, of course)?
