Update as I'm reading:
Anne is my favorite of the cast but Matthew McConaughey is such an unexpected choice (NO ONE saw it coming) that I'm sure Nolan thought he was perfect as the lead of the movie (Nolan could almost get anyone in Hollywood and he chose him)
