While the delta-V calculations are correct, that's only half the story if you're building an orbit-capable vehicle. You're not going anywhere if your engine can't produce an acceleration at least equal to the planet's surface gravity. Plasma engines are super efficient, but their thrust is extremely low, nowhere near enough to lift off on a planet with 1.3 G.zonda wrote:An explanatory response to a meme
Very few engine concepts exist that have both high efficiency and high thrust, and the only ones I'm aware of involve continuous nuclear detonations.
