That is so crazy to think it outsold The Avengers on BD, it really makes me wonder how big of an effect the shooting had on the box office.Imaginatio wrote:Based on my own personal view of the film, and my interpretation of it. In any case, the general consensus of Rises seems to be that people really like it. It outsold The Avengers on Blu-Ray/DVD in 2012, despite being released only at the end of 2012 on home video. That clearly shows the general audience really liked the film. Personally I feel it's a loud minority that is disappointed with Rises.Vader182 wrote:Based on what? If the "general consensus" about Rises was disappointing, it would not have done so well on home video.
Do you think TDKR was the best movie of the year?

Yes.
Then again, I hadn't seen as many movies as I hoped to in 2012.

I would want to know how big the release it would have been without the shooting effect... and the total tally.PowerDump wrote:That is so crazy to think it outsold The Avengers on BD, it really makes me wonder how big of an effect the shooting had on the box office.Imaginatio wrote:

It still wouldn't have stood a chance, in all honesty. I think the reason Avengers didn't sell as well on BD is because it's just one of those movies that's good but a one time viewing only.natalie wrote:I would want to know how big the release it would have been without the shooting effect... and the total tally.PowerDump wrote: That is so crazy to think it outsold The Avengers on BD, it really makes me wonder how big of an effect the shooting had on the box office.

Indeed.
yes
wrote this on IMDB thought I'd post it here too, the reason TDKR is best movie of 2012 because it gives you ultimate satisfaction, the movie sure limped to reach there but once it reached there it transcended every other movie of 2012.
Gordon -
1. Batman's reveal scene, a hero can be anyone.
2. A Tale of 2 cities monologue.
3. Finally touching the bat symbol and realizing that his friend is safe.
John Blake -
1. Revealing himself to be Robin, its not just a gag, the character is definitive representation of Robin.
2. Entering the batcave, getting swarmed by Bats, shrugging them off and finally rising as the Dark Knight Rises.
Batman/ Bruce -
1. Genius move by editors and Nolan to show the expressions of Batman just before the bomb went off, although categorizes the ending as Deus Ex Machina(maybe) but it definitely worked for the audience and me, getting throat lumping experience seeing his near perfect expression just as the bomb went boom.
2. Finally becoming Symbol of Hope for Gotham(statue reveal scene), "A vigilante is just a man lost in the scramble for his own gratification, but if you make yourself more than just a man, then you become something else entirely, Legend".
3. And moving on after his cathartic journey(cafe scene).
Alfred -
1. Scene at Bruce's parents grave.
2. Finally having his fantasy come true and a nod.
Fox -
1. Subtle realization that Autopilot was fixed and Bruce made it.
I don't know how can someone overlook this and give this movie 3 or 4 out of ten just because it has some plotholes or some other mediocre moment. As a finale it worked brilliantly and gives total satisfaction. Mr. Nolan, I tip my hat to thee.
One of the Greatest Trilogy ever.

Followed by The Master, Lincoln, and Zero Dark Thirty.
"When art imitates life"
No.
