I personally like BB better then TDK, but to say TDKR is going to be better or not as good I feel is just a matter of opinion or preference. I think it's going to be awesome, but to me a 10 is a 10 and when you have 3 10's in BB, TDK & TDKR it's not so much which is better then the other but instead which is YOUR favorite.

TDKR makes TDK look like Batman Forever.

The Dark Knight was so good because it had two iconic characters, with minimal set up. If you watch the Dark Knight it hits the ground running and feels like the second act of a larger story, which is how I choose to treat the trilogy. So it won't be worse than the Dark Knight, but like Batman Begins it will have to do a little setting up before it gets going.

Not that it matters, I like both prior entries equally, with one gaining on the other depending on my mood. When I feel like doing something constructive, it's the Begins training montage for me, but when I feel like a failure and an outcast, it's the end of the dark knight I watch. I'm sure that will be true of the third entry as well.

Exactly. TDK didn't really try to be relevant, it just tried to be real.

I think over the years critics have changed. It seems like they are not liking anything lately as much as they did with TDK and others.

No, but it was, it struck the zeitgiest in a way that no one could knowingly replicate. The film itself might be better, but it's never going to be that cultural event that TDK was. Ledger has a lot to do with that, not necessarily the performance, but the death coupled with the performance.
