I doubt Nolan sit there and thinks 'Next film - must kill another woman'
I dont think she does kill Ellen Page. i think that would have been in the plot spoilers we got. that would be a major plot point.

Of course he doesn't sit there and think that. It's a recurring theme. Themes tend to work themselves in on a subtextual level, especially during the writing process.
