I mean, except Inception and Following all his works are based in comic books (TDK trilogy), novels (The Prestige, Memento* and The keys to the street) or are remakes of other movies (Insomnia). And Interstellar is based in Kip Thorn's theories and the screenplay that Jonathan wrote.

*Well, Memento was a Jonathan's idea but his novel (Memento mori) and the movie are very different.

Almost everything Stanley Kubrick made was an adaptation, I guess his films weren't as original as Norbit.
