That's exactly what I thought when I saw that footage in the featurette. I think Nolan likes planes a lot. Ho got to use them while filming and traveling to six different countires.

I reckon he's very good planning his production as you say he could have done that only if it was comfortable for everyone on the crew, etc.
I wonder why they needed that many planes, though. I was assuming that most of the locations were in the dream world, so they didn't need to physically travel there.
