Don't know about Casino Royale being a "moron" movie.......
To me, it was a morn movie just like COMMANDO or ACTION JACKSON (except those were fun), but with people reacting as if it were FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE or THE SPY WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD (which were actually excellent.)
CASINO ROYALE and the Abrams TREKThing are such total misfires ...

What really bothered me and pulled me out of the movie was during the opening act, Bond shows capable skills as a spy when he tells his co-operator not to touch his ears as it is giving him away. But then when during that chase in the jungle, he just doesn't have the common sense to just shoot the guy in the legs. How can one man be so smart and be so dumb? In fact, I don't think he ever fired a single shot.

a little Bond film would only limit his potential.
whats the difference between Bond and Batman? they both have their share of action, characters, and intellect... i don't see what would limit Nolan.
I have to disagree a bit here, Batman lends itself to be dark, and normally in human life when there are dark times you also find the most out of people, and you also find joy when the dark times are over.
Bond really can't be dark, or else he becomes an unlikeable character.
That being said, I would love a Bond-Nolan film, he could push the darkness of the character, and we can see the true level of his comedic genious.
I can see Nolan bringing Bonds characterization back to his roots. In Ian Flemings original books.....Bond was a multi dimensional character with some hidden demons and had depth!
Nolan would make a an overall GREAT Bond film IMO!

Well his job expectations (even though he has a license to kill) prevent him from just randomly firing. He only killed the bomb maker at the end of the chase, and it was on a whim, while his original intention was probably to capture him alive and question him.
Also ... it's a Bond movie, long chase scenes are expected.
I think it could be a great idea, but there are politics involved. Not to mention the overwhelmingly negative financial situation that MGM is in right now. They've all but put the Bond series on hold since they can't afford to fund it anymore.
It would be great if Nolan could do a Bond movie someday, but i'm not sure if it will happen due to MGM's financial problems. The next best thing would be for Nolan to do a Modesty Blaise movie- similar character but with better plot development, is quite famous due to the cult classic book series and comics, plus it doesn't have the baggage of previous movies. Nolan could have the luxury of utilising Modesty's interesting history in a non linear plot. Has anyone here ever read or heard of Modesty Blaise? I suggest you check her out.
