So do y'all think Nolan might get to work sooner after Tenet, than he has with previous films? Assuming there's a vaccine by the end of the year, early next year, I can see Nolan getting back into production on his next feature that summer. I think he might want to release another tentpole as soon as possible after the pandemic. That is, if he has the right idea of course, but I think we all know his next film is already lingering in his mind whenever he's making a film.

Also, it seems like most of his recent blockbusters were actually finished with post-production months in advance of the release. I wonder if he's ever going to tighten that gap.

One thing for sure, it's going to be another original idea from him, now I just hope he'll adventure himself in a completely new ground whithout sci-fi/fantastic elements.

I would imagine he has an idea of what he wants to do next, but he's probably not very far along on it. I'd guess his next film is gonna take longer than normal. 4 - 5 years maybe.

Why do you think it's going to take longer than usual?

I think after the Tenet madness is completely over (home media and all) he might start working on his next script. I remember someone asked him once about his next project and he gave a vague answer wanting us to believe that he only works on one project at a time - meaning that once he's finished with one movie he'll start working on a new one without relying on old ideas or scripts.

But with Tenet being a project he's been working on for years, I'm sure he has other ideas hidden. And who knows it could be anything. Anyone here expected him to make a film about a historical event?

My guess is we'll know about his next project in 2022 and the film will come out in 2023.

Oh yes I certainly think he'll only start working on his next film after Tenet's release, including home release. Giving that theaters are having a rough time these days, I feel like Nolan might want to return with another blockbuster a bit quicker than we're used of him. Like I said, his films are usually finished rather on time so idk maybe he's going to speed it up a bit and rely on his knowledge and that of his colleagues to get shit done lol. So not necessarily getting to work on something else right when Tenet has been in theater, but just getting things going quicker after it's home release.

I also wonder how things will fare economically once productions can get rolling again like they used to. Will it be much more expensive?

A noir ala Chinatown in late 2022 or 23. Or a disaster epic with horror elements.

The only franchise I can imagine Nolan taking on at this point is James Bond, and Bond 26 in 23/24 could happen. Before Tenet I though Nolan would take over the series after the Craig-era was over, but now I'm thinking Tenet will scratch that itch.

I don't know why but a true period piece....something like the Duelists, or Barry Lyndon. OR, maybe old school period epic like Gladiator, or Kingdom of heaven. Chimes at Midnight is probably a movie Nolan loves, he loves the Welles...somethin' like that.
