Whether he's doing The Prisoner or not, I'm convinced he's at a point in his career where he doesn't have to make deals where he's contractually obligated to make a film for the studio. 15 years ago maybe. But no chance now. The next movie he makes will only be 100% what he wants to make.

Facts. Plus if even Universal were to actually contractually obligate Nolan to make something, why would it be The Prisoner? Lol
It would probably be something that they know is already financially successful. Like how WB let him make Inception with the promise of a third Batman film (it would obviously be a hit bc it's Batman and TDK made $1B). The Prisoner is a British TV show that most people now a days don't really know about. It doesn't seem like something any studio would be wanting to make (unless a filmmaker like Nolan wanted to make it).

The 2028 date maybe because he plans to do a film before(2026) prisoners if true. Seems a bit of a narrow time frame but he has done it before. All depends on how ambitious the scope and how far along the screenplay is.

If he does choose to make the Prisoner, do we think he will go younger for the lead? Daniel Craig seems the ideal casting.

Knowing how much Nolan champions the idea of truly believing in the project you're making and given his stature in the business, I don't see him ever making a "one for me, one for you" deal with Universal.
If he's really making The Prisoner, I also don't see him casting Daniel Craig, because he's already played the role of the spy for so long now. Nolan always comes in with something fresh. Unexpected yet fitting.

I think he goes with Cillian Murphy regardless of what his next movie is. Just a guess but it feels destined that after the success of Oppenheimer that they'll be working together on the Nolan's next project. I know Nolan doesn't write scripts based on casting, but something keeps telling me Cillian will be the lead again in his next film.
I'll obviously be there opening night regardless, but I'd be way more excited if Nolan mixed this up dramatically.
I don't know how much I need another spy thriller with a dude who has no name, and the plot and motivations are kept vague and mysterious. I love that stuff, but keep it simple and badass.
- Female lead as The Prisoner? Emily Blunt? Florence Pugh?
- Straightforward action/thriller that mostly focuses on oozing with style, like Drive meets John Wick?
Give me an Atomic Blonde, Red Sparrow, Black Widow, Kill Bill type of protagonist that puts John Wick to shame as only Nolan could do.
I think it's time, is the other thing. This is the time for Nolan to have a female lead. It may be overdue, a little.

Let them work on their 4 different Batmans happening at once.
So what do we think: If this ends up being The Prisoner, will we get Sam Mendes' The Saint in 2027?
