I pretty much buy the same two or three shades across all brands, so I feel you lol. I’d feel kind of remorseful over tossing lipsticks that aren’t awful or too old though, so I’m just trying to use them more often. I decided to not buy any lipsticks if I haven’t finished one. In fact, I feel like I’ll be doing this with pretty much all my makeup items. My collection isn’t like insane or anything, but I have enough to feel overwhelmed and anxious, and that’s just not good.

So r/makeuprehab has an eyeshadow calculator. I currently work from home so I wear makeup like 3 times a week. With my current makeup consumption and with the amount of eyeshadows I have, I currently have 17 years worth of eyeshadow. If I had an office job and was wearing makeup 5 days a week, I would have 10 years worth of eyeshadow.

Makeup is so fun to collect but damn it takes so long to use up.

lmfao that sounds so bad when you put it this way lol. But yeah. I’ve been really into lurking on r/panporn because I find makeup pans so satisfying. It’s like that thing I never knew I needed so much lol. But the way so many people on there and makeuprehab treat their makeup kinda worries me. Like, I value makeup because if you spend money on it, it’s valuable, and I don’t like just wasting all of that away. But people legit torturing themselves trying to use decade old palettes or stuff they just hate baffles me. Just throw that away. You’ve enjoyed that enough, there’s no need to force yourself to finish literally every dusting of product in that pan. I feel the same way about obsessive decluttering that’s becoming so popular nowadays in the same circles. Hoarding is bad, but ‘KonMari’ying every fucking thing in your house is like trading one compulsion for another. You only think you’ve fixed your problems.

The only palette I am coming close to actually finishing is Modern Renaissance. I’ve finished 2 shadows, and hit pan on 10 out of 14 total. I might upload it on pan porn or my insta stories one day lol. I plan to finish those 10 shades, depot those few berry shades because I don’t have anything else like that, and I’ll consider that palette done. If I don’t have a massive flare up in my eye area, I’m optimistic I’ll be mostly done with it by summer.

Good luck with your panning! I made Modern Renaissance my pan project for this year but then I wasn't really having any fun with makeup when I was making myself try to pan something.

Declutteterd my lip products. Got rid of 22 lipsticks/balms/glosses/chapsticks that were separated, not pigmented, didn't work well, and ones where the lipstick bullet kept popping out.

Feels so good to destash.

Oh yeah, forgot to say, I’ve been in Canada for the past week and a half. Loving it all. Seeing Inception in IMAX at Ontario Place, so that’ll scratch the “lack of Nolan’s new project news” itch for me.
