Yeah, that's true. But which place? Can't really think of one.

Now it recognizes the headphones are plugged in, yet wont play sounds. When I do a sound test the sound levels INDICATE a sonud is being made, it just isn't in my headphones at all.

Yes, and I reinstalled the sound drivers. All it did was change the icon in the audio menu from a black box to a speaker.

And now its back to being a converter box thing again. God dammit.

I know how you feel.

That happens to some of the computers at my school. And it's also happening to the laptop i'm currently using.

Time switch to my other laptop.

Full breakdown of what's happened so far:
My hard drive was corrupted or something so I reinstalled windows entirely. The fault that previously ailed me is now gone.
I reinstalled my video card.
I reinstalled all the stuff that I got from the parts, USB stuff, motherboard stuff, everything has been restored.
My headphones are not broken (well, physically yes but nothing involving the actual ability to get them to emit sound)

When I click the headphone button I can barely, baaaaaarely hear the 'ting' noise, but I can't hear any sound from in-browser (Youtube, etc).

And I want to play Hitman SO FUCKING BADLY but that game involves a lot of situational awareness which sound plays a huge part in so I can't and it is driving me crazy
