I thought I'd copy and paste my philosophy homework on here.

“Well, there are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement and government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what.” – Mitt Romney

Ad Hominem

This blatant insult is a very good example of an Ad Hominem fallacy as it shifts the focus of the discussion entirely on the supposed negative traits of the opposition. Mitt Romney states that nearly half of the voters suspend all reasoning for what is best for the country in favor of their self-interest. I immediately recognized that this is completely false because Mississippi, one of the most if not the most conservative state in the country is also the poorest state in the country. No fair minded person would agree with the republican presidential candidate on this point and that belief was reinforced when Fox News’ Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly embraced this notion (Sorry if you’re a fan).
It is nice to read what a politician actually believes or something that he/she does not want the general public to hear. Mainly because of how banal Presidential rhetoric is since it is always focused on uplift and not the truth.

REASON 52: I have noticed something in Mitt Romney’s name.
Dear Americans, Republicans, and Democrats Alike,

I am going to vote for re-electing President Obama. I have noticed something in Mitt Romney’s name, which I think speaks to what he is about. If you just rearrange a few letters, Romney becomes R MONEY. I believe Mitt Romney wants to get his Mitts on R Money. He would like to get it and divide it up with his friends, the Big Money Bunch.

I believe he would like to get his Mitts on R Money, R Resources, R Freedoms, and R American Dream. I do not trust Mitt Romney to look after the best interests of 99% of Americans. I think electing Mitt Romney would be a catastrophe for our country—one which would be real difficult to straighten out later. Please do not let Mitt Romney get his Mitts on R Money or R United States of America.
