“These investments are going to lower out-of-pocket expenses of families, and not just give them a little more breathing room,” Biden said. “Instead of giving every break in the world to corporations and CEOs, we can ask corporations and the very wealthy just to pay their fair share, so we can invest in making our country stronger and more competitive.”
Biden thanked every member of the House, saying, “There were differences. Strong points of view. They’re always welcome. What’s important is that we came together to advance our agenda.”

NY Magazine - Bidenomics Is WorkingThe people can now repair and tinker with their own devices under copyright law. The US Copyright Office (USCO) submitted recommendations, approved today by the Librarian of Congress, to add exemptions to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)’s rules governing access to devices and software. (This section.) The big one is the new right to get into any consumer software-enabled device (cellphone, laptop, etc) for the purposes of diagnostics, repair, and maintenance.
The new exemptions align with Joe Biden’s mission to expand the right to repair, included as a directive to the FTC in a July executive order. That order was more broadly aimed at cracking down on monopolistic companies that make consumers pay too much for services we have no choice but to get.

lol the shell of what once was a possible 6 trillion reconciliation Bill isn't 'historic'; 500 billion over 10 years to fight climate change when the US military gets 700+ billion each year? LOL. Don't make me laugh. I remember when Mansion was fine with 4 trillion. Do you?
The fools defending this ineffective President who can't even put pressure on 2 corporate senators blocking the whole thing for months are pathetic. The progressive Democrats should draw some red lines in the sand and say 'if those things are not included in the bill we won't support either the bipartisan bill or this weaksauce Reconciliation Bill'.

So the elastic effect against the party in power isn't as strong now as it was 12 years ago. The Democrats may not lose as many seats in 2022 as they did in 2010 though history shows (table, chart) a loss is likely next year regardless. All the more reason to act with speed to pass as much legislation as possible in the next year.

The Washington Post - The Biden economy is doing pretty well by the measures Trump used to evaluate his own
A day after Republican Glenn Youngkin defeated Democrat Terry McAuliffe in Virginia's high-profile race for governor, President Joe Biden said that Congress should have passed his infrastructure and social safety net agenda before the election.
Speaking from the White House on Wednesday, Biden said voters wanted Washington to "get things done" on a wide range of issues — rising gas prices, lingering impacts of the Covid pandemic and the cost of prescription drugs — that he argued would be addressed by his legislative package.
Back in 2009, Democrats lost the contest for mayor of NY (by 4 points), lost the NJ governor's election (by 4 points), and lost the VA governor's election (by 17 points). That's happened for many decades where the party in power is voted against in NJ and VA. Not a great election 2021 (preliminary exit polls show turnout problems for Biden voters) but it could've been worse. They won New Jersey and the mayor of NY this time and slightly lost in Virginia."I think it should have passed before Election Day, but I am not sure that I would be able to change the number of very conservative folks who turned out in the red districts who were Trump voters. But maybe," he told reporters.
Asked what Democrats can do differently to avoid similar losses in the 2022 midterm elections, Biden said: "I think we should produce for the American people."
"People need a little breathing room, they are overwhelmed," he added. "We just have to produce results for them to change their standard of living."
