Tucker was a loss leader for the network, he couldn't attract great advertisers on his insurrection-loving, Dan White Society, Jesse Helms Foundation, Putin-loving, testicle-tanning show and he was now costing them too much money with all these lawsuits.

Axios - Tucker Carlson out at Fox News
A slew of material was uncovered during pre-trial discovery that implicated Carlson. More information could be out there that could be legally damaging for Fox as it stares down more defamation cases [from Smartmatic and others].
Mediaite - ‘It Was a Firing’: Tucker Carlson’s Exit from Fox Was NOT Voluntary, Sources Say
Carlson’s final show that aired Friday night showed no indication he expected it to be his last, with the host signing off by telling his audience “we’ll be back on Monday.”

A source who spoke with Mediaite on condition of anonymity revealed that Carlson was in fact shocked by the news. “He was totally surprised,” said the source. “He had no idea.”

“It was a firing,” the source added, and Carlson “was informed today” — explaining why he had closed Friday’s show saying he’d be back Monday.

The Fox News newsroom is “in a state of shock,” the source said, confirming reporting by Mediaite’s Aidan McLaughlin that multiple sources within the network said the news “hit like a bomb inside the network, shocking even staffers close to the ex-prime time host who had no idea this was coming,” and found out not from any internal communication, but when the news broke online.

The source did not know the precise reason for Carlson’s firing, but speculated that it was “part of general housecleaning” after the Dominion settlement plus the grumbling and litigation worries from Fox News shareholders, or something related to former Fox producer Abby Grossman’s complaint that was specifically connected to Carlson.
Tucker's white power hour has been cancelled, and ready to be replaced by a new one because Fox is a cancer. Once upon a time O'Reilly and Beck were tops at the network and look at them now and look at who replaced them at Fox.

Southern Poverty Law Center - MALE SUPREMACY IS AT THE CORE OF THE HARD RIGHT’S AGENDA
Hard-right movements are based on exclusion and the construction of hierarchies.
Christianity, many members of the American hard right contend, should hold a preeminent place in our society and even form the basis for our laws. White people, they (often implicitly) suggest, deserve to hold a dominant position in society because of their supposed innate superiority.

The hard right, in other words, wants to revive an older social order, before the Civil Rights Movement, women’s and gay liberation movements, and other social and political transformations upset what was a thoroughly white-dominated, patriarchal society. Gender, then – how it is understood, practiced and described in our laws – is clearly of central concern to the hard right. Their goal is to uphold male supremacy, a movement that scholar of right-wing movements Chelsea Ebin describes as “a complex system that serves to assert, support, and promote the supposed superiority of men,” and subjugate women, trans, nonbinary and gender-nonconforming people.

But in most scholarship and media focused on the hard right, the movement’s gender politics are taken for granted or given secondary importance. Writing and commentary on the Jan. 6 insurrection, for instance, has lifted up the role of white supremacy in the attack, but usually fails to explore the fact that the insurrectionists were not only overwhelmingly white but also overwhelmingly men (with some notable exceptions).

White supremacy is central to the hard right, but so is a desire to maintain a patriarchal society where people adhere to strictly defined gender roles and men act from a position of dominance.

Georgia GOP chairman says he was just following orders from Trump lawyers | CNN Politics
Lawyers representing David Shafer, the embattled chairman of the Georgia Republican Party, are arguing their client should not be charged with any crimes for his actions following the 2020 election because he was following advice provided by attorneys working for former President Donald Trump, according to a letter sent to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis last week.

Specifically, Shafer’s attorneys say their client was relying on “repeated and detailed advice of legal counsel” when he organized a group of “contingent” electors from Georgia and served as one himself, thus “eliminating any possibility of criminal intent or liability,” according to a copy of the May 5 letter.
"I was just following orders" has historically been a not good defense (it didn't save those recently convicted of sedition), and certainly not a moral one.

This one has the whiff of being in the 'bargaining' stage to try to cut a deal with the prosecutor.

Financial Times - Trump calls for US debt default in absence of ‘massive’ spending cuts

These economic hostage takers that call themselves Trump supporters and Republicans raised the debt ceiling (which itself may be unconstitutional under the separation of powers and 14th amendment) under Trump despite massive tax cuts for the wealthy that increased the national debt. There's never been a default in U.S. history but today's Republicans believe in doing it in service of their extortion.
