I wrote an essay arguing that political polarization in media and entertainment has undermined the core American value of free speech, particularly in terms of private sector independence and public discourse. Rather than aligning with the left or right, I focused on protecting free expression, including the rights of private companies to establish their own policies and make sponsorship decisions. From this perspective, I agree with Bill Maher that Jimmy’s actions crossed the line of acceptable speech, making the sponsors’ decision to pull support a sensible business choice rather than a regulatory matter. Moreover, the shift in late-night TV toward political commentary—stepping away from Jay Leno’s entertainment-focused approach—has resulted in repetitive, politically charged content. This change has diminished the variety and appeal of these shows, prompting me to stop watching programs like Saturday Night Live and look for less politically inclined alternatives. Additionally, it seems the left selectively applies free speech principles, as reports suggest the Biden White House censored Americans on Google and banned them from YouTube over free speech issues. Disney fired Roseanne Barr and Gina Carano.
The tragedy involving Charlie Kirk highlights the urgent need for more dialogue and less violence. Charlie aimed to reveal how college environments can brainwash individuals, and his death, allegedly involving Taylor Robinson, is deeply tragic for both families. I am also concerned about potential external involvement, as Charlie had started looking into possible connections between Jeffrey Epstein and Mossad before his death. This situation calls for a reevaluation of foreign aid and a thorough investigation, particularly considering the influence of organizations like AIPAC. The lack of response from some political leaders regarding the violence against Charlie is disappointing. Disagreement should never justify violence. Charlie’s loss is heartbreaking; he was a father and husband, and his family now faces immense grief.
