¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(Video rundown by MSNBC's Rachel Maddow)

Somebody had to have directed all this fraud...and it should be a crime and prosecuted.

This is not a normal thing that happens with any presidential election so the odds that a half dozen or more groups in entirely separate states decided to commit the same fraud in isolation is unlikely.

And yeah there were people who did try to steal / self-coup (President Biden has now called it an attempted coup) the 2020 election.

* Osiecki, who leads the group, told the Arizona Republic in Dec. 2020 that a meeting with [Trump personal lawayer] Rudy Giuliani helped convince her to send the forgery: Rolling Stone
* 18 U.S. Code § 595 makes it a federal crime if any federal, state or local government employee uses “official authority for the purpose of interfering with, or affecting, the nomination or the election of any candidate for the office of President.”: Rep. Ted Lieu

One leg of their plan was for Vice President Pence to toss the real electoral college out and substitute it with the fake Trump one. It was a multi-pronged effort and with backup plans that had backup plans. The whole overturn-the-election thing was in and of itself a backup plan itself after Trump failed to win the electoral college and all the states were called by media in early November. The violence we saw on January 6th, 2021, is a result of Pence not following through on stealing the election for Trump. Had Pence followed through there wouldn't have been the need for violence: the backup to their Pence plan.

ABC News - Video surfaces showing Trump ally Roger Stone flanked by Oath Keepers on morning of Jan. 6 (February 2021)
ABC News - Justice Department unseals charges against 2nd Oath Keeper seen with Roger Stone (March 2021)
Associated Press - Stone says he invoked 5th amendment at Jan. 6 deposition (December 2021)

I’m thinking the nexus could be the same as before.

Trump -> Stone -> Oath Keepers (2021 attack to stay in power illegally)
Trump -> Stone -> Wikileaks/Russia (2016 attack for advantage in election)

There’s probably other parts but the investigators could be following the obvious pattern again and that's something they're looking at.

This a lie and it's mostly Republicans choosing not to get vaccinated. Pretty much no Republicans are criticizing Trump over racism and his lies once again.

The Associated Press & Scripps National - RNC says violence at Capitol is not 'patriotism' (January 6, 2021)
"The members of the Republican National Committee strongly condemn the violence in and around the United States Capitol Building today in Washington D.C.," the statement reads. "These violent scenes we have witnessed do not represent acts of patriotism, but an attack on our country and its founding principles. Our Founding Fathers established a nation of laws, not a nation of anarchy. We call for all those involved to listen to law enforcement officials and help restore order in our nation's capital."
One year later they've abandoned that pretense position completely.

Republicans are terrorists and now they want you to know that. That's also their plan for the future.

Pence says 'Trump is wrong' to say then-vice president had the right to overturn 2020 election - CNNPolitics
Former Vice President Mike Pence called out his former boss by name on Friday, saying that "President (Donald) Trump is wrong" in claiming that Pence had the right to overturn the 2020 election on January 6, 2021.

Speaking at the Federalist Society Florida Chapters conference near Orlando, Pence delivered his strongest response yet to Trump's ongoing efforts to relitigate the 2020 presidential election, calling it "un-American" to suggest one person could have decided the outcome.

Pence warned against conservatives who continue to insist the vice president can alter an election, and said it could be a problematic position for Republicans in the next presidential contest.

The Washington Post - ‘He never stopped ripping things up’: Inside Trump’s relentless document destruction habits

Trump’s shredding of paper in the White House was far more widespread and indiscriminate than previously known and — despite multiple admonishments — extended throughout his presidency.
...He did it all in violation of the Presidential Records Act, despite being urged by at least two chiefs of staff and the White House counsel to follow the law on preserving documents.

Reuters - EXCLUSIVE FBI probes pre-Capitol riot [parking garage] meeting of far-right groups
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is probing a meeting in a downtown DC garage the day before the January 6 Capitol Hill riot between the then-leader of the Proud Boys extremist group, the now-indicted leader of the Oath Keepers militia and other far-right figures, according to two witnesses interviewed by FBI agents.

Among the half dozen people gathered at a garage near the Phoenix Park Hotel was Oath Keepers head Stewart Rhodes, who was indicted this year on charges of “seditious conspiracy” in the insurrection. Proud Boys Chairman Enrique Tarrio, who was not present at the riot, was also at the garage meeting but left Washington afterward.

The meeting put the heads of the nation’s two best-known violent far-right pro-Trump groups in immediate proximity to each other 24 hours before the breach of the Capitol. Three attendees or their representatives contacted by Reuters say they did not discuss matters related to January 6.

Bianca Gracia, who heads a pro-Trump coalition called Latinos for Trump and an affiliated Political Action Committee named Latinos For America First, was at the garage meeting as well, according to witnesses and video taken by a documentary film crew. Also present was Kellye SoRelle, a lawyer for the Oath Keepers and Latinos for Trump. SoRelle told Reuters she was invited by Gracia to meet Tarrio and share information about criminal defense attorneys. She said her role in the meeting was brief, and did not concern plans for the next day.

NY Times - Accounting Firm Cuts Ties With Trump and Retracts Financial Statements
The statements are at the center of two investigations into whether the former president and his company exaggerated the value of their assets.
The brief letter could bolster Ms. James’s investigation, which has focused partly on the statements and whether they overvalued Mr. Trump’s various hotels, golf clubs and other properties.

Mazars said it concluded that the statements were no longer reliable based in part on the attorney general’s earlier filings, its own investigations and information the accountants received from “internal and external sources.” The letter added that Mazars “performed its work in accordance with professional standards.”
