The whole 'nobody cares' thing is a little extreme. The reaction from all of us over this event is due to the fact that it COULD HAVE BEEN us. Those dead probably have been anticipating the very night of their death from the moment Batman rode off into the sky back in 2008. It's odd to think that peoples lives were marked that many years ago.

We tend to care more about this because it could have been us. If all humanity had perfect compassion, maybe we'd get emotional over every tragedy.

I'm going to the theater tonight to take my mom for her birthday. I'll let you guys know what the atmosphere is like.

I went to university (undergrad) with the suspect. I never met him personally, but graduated the same year and he did live with a friend of mine. Frightening.
