Pelosi supports the 'Squad''s reelection as well. They back incumbents...because incumbents win more often than not. Though Cuellar's legal issues are probably dragging him down - it's a district Biden lightly won in (28th district - 51.6%) which also means it's harder for any Democrat more progressive to win there in an election year where the odds favor the RepubliQans which ought to trouble people for how much more damage they will do with more power than just SCOTUS.

Roe v. Wade: Key vote to protect access to abortion fails in the Senate [47D + 2I for, 50R + 1D against] - CNNPolitics
A key vote on the Women’s Health Protection Act, a Democrat-led bill aimed at preserving access to abortion nationwide, failed in the Senate on Wednesday.

The vote comes as the US Supreme Court may be poised to overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling, as indicated by a leaked draft opinion.

The final tally was 49 to 51 with moderate Democrat, Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, joining with Republicans to vote against the measure and stop it from advancing.

The bill’s failure to advance was expected amid GOP resistance. But the outcome of the vote nevertheless underscores how Democrats are severely limited in what they can achieve with their narrow Senate majority.

At the same time, the party faces enormous pressure to take action on abortion rights amid fears that Roe v. Wade will soon be struck down. Holding the vote provided an opportunity for Democrats to spotlight the issue and criticize Republican resistance to passage of the legislation.
President Joe Biden lashed out at Senate Republicans after the failed Senate vote.

“Once again – as fundamental rights are at risk at the Supreme Court – Senate Republicans have blocked passage of the Women’s Health Protection Act, a bill that affirmatively protects access to reproductive health care,” Biden said in a statement. “This failure to act comes at a time when women’s constitutional rights are under unprecedented attack – and it runs counter to the will of the majority of American people.”

Manchin's vote against wasn't even necessary for the 'no' side since it needed 60 to proceed (break a filibuster).

RepubliQan Senators don't represent the majority of voters even when they have the majority of seats.

Meanwhile, the corporate media will likely ask 'how in the world could they have pressured that one Dem Senator' when the filibuster requires them to get like 11 more votes than they got here lol. Never mind the fact that the Democrats could have (but didn't and won't) try to get rid of the filibuster in the Senate, which would make it easier to get a lot of policies passed. Once the Republicans get back in they won't have any hesitations to get rid of the filibuster to get their agenda passed. The Dems will see this failed vote as just another opportunity to fundraise and then expect applause. No deal.

While Nancy Pelosi wants a 'strong Republican Party' (what does she think they are now and what world does she live in lol?), it's worth noting that the Dems had a supermajority in 2009 but Obama said that codifying Roe v Wade was somehow not a legislative priority anymore and Nancy Pelosi recently claimed that there weren't enough pro-choice Democrats in Congress at that time (why do we take what she says at face value by the way? Why do we give Obama a pass for setting the stage for these rights to be taken away?).

The Democrats failed on abortion, just as they do on wealth inequality, justice reform, voting rights, and a host of other issues. As several Biden consultants are currently working to get anti-choice politicians like Henry Cuellar elected over pro-choice people like Jessica Cisneros in Texas, I don't think Democrats care more about women than they do about corporate cash that they can use to campaign. Feckless losers.

Yeah Republicans are worse by a lot but that does not mean the Dems should be let off the hook for their cowardice in the face of the Republicans when it comes to fighting on behalf of women in the US. They've been ceding ground on this particular issue to Republicans for decades.

Left-wing Democratic primary challengers need to use this and many other issues to defeat the kind of scumbags who would rather campaign on behalf of anti-choice politicians rather than on behalf of those who defend the idea of women having autonomy over their own bodies.

The president also signed off on targeting about a dozen Shabab leaders in the war-torn country, from which Donald J. Trump largely withdrew in his final weeks in office.
President Biden has signed an order authorizing the military to once again deploy hundreds of Special Operations forces inside Somalia — largely reversing the decision by President Donald J. Trump to withdraw nearly all 700 ground troops who had been stationed there, according to four officials familiar with the matter.

In addition, Mr. Biden has approved a Pentagon request for standing authority to target about a dozen suspected leaders of Al Shabab, the Somali terrorist group that is affiliated with Al Qaeda, three of the officials said. Since Mr. Biden took office, airstrikes have largely been limited to those meant to defend partner forces facing an immediate threat.

Associated Press - Biden launches Indo-Pacific trade deal, warns over inflation
President Joe Biden said Monday that the U.S. would intervene militarily if China were to invade Taiwan, in one of the most forceful and overt statements in support of Taiwan in decades.

Biden said the burden to protect the self-ruled island was "even stronger" after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Speaking at a news conference in Tokyo, Biden said, "That's the commitment we made." He said an effort by China to use force against Taiwan would "just not be appropriate," saying it "will dislocate the entire region and be another action similar to what happened in Ukraine."
