Haynes' Carol: a sublime melodrama w/ exquisite contribs from every department. Blanchett & Mara surely up for acting honours #Cannes2015
Jordan Hoffman @jhoffman
CAROL just shattered my heart into a thousand pieces. Subtle, beautiful, brilliant.

CAROL: All I wanted and more -- like stepping into a Hopper painting and finding a devastating romance unfolding in the dark corners.

Todd Haynes' Carol with Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara is absolutely gorgeous #Cannes2015
Robbie Collin @robbiereviews
It's a little bit hard to process just how heart-bulldozingly great Carol is at the moment. #Cannes2015
Kyle Buchanan @kylebuchanan
The #1 Oscar nod I'd like to see from CAROL is actually composer Carter Burwell, who has somehow NEVER BEEN NOMINATED BEFORE
David Poland @DavidPoland
"Carol" is sublime. But I suspect the audience for Ilive Kitteridge is about the same size as this one. Both Mara & Blanchett great. #Cannes
Richard Lawson @rilaws
CAROL is gorgeous and beautifully acted. Smaller in scale in some ways than I thought it would be, but powerful in its way.

Todd Haynes's Carol is an amour fou which plays out with sanity and generosity. #Cannes2015

Man in front of me yelled "bravo" at end of Carol. Have to agree. Swoon. Wow. Loved.

Rooney's movie as much as Blanchett's. Exceptional in every respect.

Carol is a bit slow and bumpy but it really comes around in the end. Blanchett? Like you have to ask...#Cannes2015
It would be awesome if Carol won the Palme d'Or, but you never really know even if you base it off the reactions.theseeker9175 wrote:Could this beat BITWC's reception from some years ago? Lazy comparison due the film's theme aside, this is having a lot of raves.
Some reviews are out, and they follow the same path of the first reactions.BlairCo wrote:It would be awesome if Carol won the Palme d'Or, but you never really know even if you base it off the reactions.theseeker9175 wrote:Could this beat BITWC's reception from some years ago? It's very likely. So far only 5 films have been screened. 14 films have yet to be screened (included the heavyweights of Jia, Hou, Sorrentino, Audiard and Trier)ArmandFancypants wrote:Or maybe Blanchett and Mara will win Best Actress.
