There is zero evidence Dune is moving other than our fears right now.
zero evidence?

We're speculating because we don't know two things right now: Where is Tenet moving? Is Maverick a threat to Warners?

I've heard rumors that post is practically dune, sans soundtrack, Zimmer has yet to start working on it extensively.

Maybe Dune is picture locked already (that would be remarkable in and of itself), but the CGI almost surely is not finished by now, so that alone is robust evidence why we can expect it moving.

Another reason is that Warner has spent zero marketing dollars on it, and could move something in that spot they already have spent marketing dollars on.

Tenet is likely either moving to October or 2021, though. There's no way Tenet is going to be in IMAX 1-2 weeks in December before Maverick takes those screens.

Would Maverick take the screens though? Considering Nolan and Imax's relationship, imo it's not impossible if Nolan says he wants Dune's spot that Maverick is just not released in Imax (or forced to move)... In France, Top Gun was originally 15th july and Tenet 22nd. So TGM was already supposed to have only one week of Imax.

It’s not impossible, but Maverick went through a process of having its sony cameras approved as “IMAX.” So Maverick was shot with IMAX instead of “specially formatted” so IMAX is treating it as a real IMAX release supposedly.

Nolan could try to get IMAX to tell Maverick to fuck off, but it doesn’t seem super likely imo.

Maybe Nolan pulls his weight with IMAX and takes the screens away from Top Gun as payback to Cruise for upstaging Batman Begins premiering, and all the media cared about was Cruise "dating" Katie Holmes at the time.

Show me a great artist who wasn't at least a little bit of an egomaniac? :D
