We've entered a new era of studio penis-measuring by which they try to shove more characters into their flagship comic book movies than they were doing before. You need only look at what the studios confirm or the rumors surrounding their cbm projects.

Will this, X:DoFP, TA:AoU, and BvS be worth it or meaningful or will they just be messy with underdeveloped characters?

They're developing the Sinister Six, so let's wait and see how it's handled.

Saw the leaked trailer (being discussed at SHH right now), quality is terrible, but they seem to be putting a lot in the trailer, not hiding apparently, the action seems to be really kicked up a notch, and spectacular in scale and choreography.
