I don't think it's "deep" either, I do think it's very thematic and emotional though. It also has a lot of subtlety and symbolism, maybe people mistake this for depth.

Kill Bill was damn exciting, Death Proof wasn't rubbish exactly but I didn't particularly care for it and Basterds was indulgent but it worked in its favour.

yeah and i can say that because the only things these movies represent are pop culture references. It's like a kid who doesn't want to talk to you but only wants to show you clips of their favourite movies. Infantile. And Tarantino can do MUCH better than this and he has chosen not to. Why? because Jackie Brown failed to be a huge box office hit and that was his only grown-up film.
