Is that why Abrams himself admits it's ridiculous?

It makes sense that it appealed to you, because Abrams is a SW fan, and certainly NOT a ST one. Pretty much pissed on all of Trek, and I don't know why the filmmakers weren't locked up for the insane lens flares.

Trademark, huh? I guess I should be happy he doesn't paint, I'd hate to see what he'd do when rebooting the Mona Lisa or Whistler's Mother, they'd probably have lens flare-eyeballs.

State of Play- Slow going at the beginning, the "twist" thrown in at the very end was unnecessary, but overall I enjoyed it.

Well, I've read that he often uses this technique, his TV series Fringe is full of these lens flares (although he's only the producer and creator of the series). I didn't know he thinks it's ridiculous... :D

Kick-Ass - 9/10

Wow... surprisingly good. I was expecting a lot worse movie than that. It's really good and more than entertaining. The music and the "choreography" of the scenes are extraordinary. I can compare it to Watchmen - it really has a lot in common with Kick-Ass. You know, Kick-Ass is basically just like Watchmen :D I mean the movies. Certain scenes composed to a dominant music, the great action scenes, the great photography, and the things about ordinary men being superheroes. I know it's maybe not appropriate to compare the two movies, but I'll still do it.

All in all, it was really good.
