Is 'To the Wonder' better? What's your take on these two?

i wouldn't say either is better tbh, they're both a stab at the same thing. actually so similar in style, look and theme that i have a hunch malick is doing a trilogy with these two and the one he shot at that music festivalRIFA wrote:Is 'To the Wonder' better? What's your take on these two?
mchekhov 2: Chek Harder wrote:for the most part I dug it. with each film malick seems to drift more and more from conventional storytelling to hone in on his own 'collection of moments' style, and this is def the most focused version of that so far. i think the approach itself is compelling, but what irked me was that while bale pines and muses about his relationships and general dissatisfaction with life, you never feel connected to him cause you don't get a sense of why he feels the way he does. the only context we're ever given for his situation is by what's discussed during monologue or conversation. compared to something like ToL where the style is justified because we get a glimpse into their lives and see what causes them to react how they do. im not sure how valid it is of a complaint cause it seems malick's intention was to carry the dramatic weight of the film solely on what bale and his interactions suggest but i dunno. conveying internal stuff externally is a lofty ambition
obligatory dope visuals and a a surprisingly awesome sound mix (there's actually a disclaimer to turn up the volume lol). check it out if you liked to the wonder cause it's a very similar deal.
Also, a guide to relaxation and stress relief:
