Eternal Sunshine, that movie is fantastic and deeply saddening (a personal favourite). And shortly after that Truman Show, good film.

Well I wouldn't say it's exactly a serious film, but since it's considered a black comedy, and since it deals with some decently serious themes (obsession, stalking, death) I felt that it wouldn't hurt to include it in the poll.
