Kubrick is the absolute best. Nobody’s even close.

Then Victor Fleming, David Lean, Michael Mann, and Christopher Nolan.

First post in the forum. So hi to all NF!

Christopher Nolan is my favourite director and has a special place in my heart as when I watched a film from his filmography I started having a strong interest in cinema. And is one of the few directors that I want to dive and learn more about behind the scenes of his movies.

Other favourites:
Kubrick
Tarantino
Hitchcock
Billy Wilder
Scorsese
Villeneuve
PTA
Chazelle
Arronofsky
Steve McQueen
Alejandro G Inarritu
Andrea Arnold
David Fincher
Sydney Lumet
Bong Joon ho
Park Chan Wook
David Lean
James Gray
Alfonso Cuaron
Nuri Bilge Ceylan
Yorgos Lanthimos
-------
There are many directors that I love some of their films and I don't like the rest. A few examples Terrence Malick, Coppola, Refn, Eastwood, Spielberg, Peter Jackson, George Miller, Kim Ki-duk and many others.

Some new film-makers that look very promising based on what we've seen so far.
Ari Aster
Robert Eggers
Jordan Peele
Safdie Brothers
Craig Zahler
Alex Garland
Lazlo Nemes
