Mann is one of the greatest filmmakers to live, so I agree. He's not quite top ten for me, but close.

Nah dude. Like Kubrick and Hitchcock are prob many of our favorite directors but he ain't working rn cuz you know, they're dead.

I was moving Mann up in the ranking but was so tired I forgot to lol. he's at the top of the bottom half.

And no, he isn't. For me a favorite filmmaker must have a point of view I feel fundamentally connected to on a quasi-spiritual gut level. I don't have that with Scorsese, even if I love many of his movies.
