That archetype isn't unique, it's been done a thousand times over to win the hearts of the audience. Doesn't mean it didn't work though.

I thought that too actually. I remember watching The Iron Lady and thinking how the actress playing the younger Margaret Thatcher felt very forced in comparison to Streep's performance, and it felt very inconsistent.
