Heat and The Last of the Mohicans are tied for me.
I love the look, and feel to Heat, but have never really understood the gushing praise for the film. The dialogue is some kind of awful. It's uninspiring to say the least.
I respect your opinion but I totally disagree. IMO the dialogue is what elevates this movie. The restaurant scene is fantastic.Skyab23 wrote:I love the look, and feel to Heat, but have never really understood the gushing praise for the film. The dialogue is some kind of awful. HEAT is a masterpiece so HEAT! Top 5 favorites ever for me. DAT ENDING. Mohicans, Thief, and The Insider are also excellent.
I think Heat is a very good film, but I do not think its a maserpeice at all. It's got some annoying flaws. Still it's a very good Story about the relationship between cops and robbers. I would say its pretty essential to the heist genre. I think Thief is Manns most perfect film, and his purist.

Remember when we cared about his new movies? No? Not really? It was what? That long ago you say?

Blackhat honestly looks like it's something from the 90s that somehow spilled over into the 2010s
Was anyone else continually annoyed by Manhunter's score sounding precisely like "Comfortably Numb"?
