Even with 50 M there wasn't much hope for this film to make any money while in theaters , but 31 M is beyond terrible.£

Even with a disappointing $31 million opening, it still should make around $100 million at the domestic box office and internationally, it should make quite a bit (it made over $81 million internationally in a few markets this past weekend) also. I still see this film turning a profit, just not a gigantic one as many predicted. And I'm not that surprised; like the original, it's an art house film set in the sci-fi genre. It's not for everyone.

Gosling isn’t much of a draw and has had a lot of flops. Someone more bankable in the lead would have helped but he was so perfectly cast here.

What? Everybody loves him, even hardcore feminists and straight guys. I doubt he's the problem here
