I loved Up In the Air, one of my favorite films of last year.

No, the film fails because Reitman is worried about making missteps and taking chances. Its a film that tries to be deep, yet spills out the most obvious things (gheezz is life really about more than airports?) in a dull way. The classic "man on a journey" film, without ANY sting. Fucking poor mans Billy Wilder...

25th Hour - 9/10

One of the most criminally underrated movie of the last decade. I love it and the acting is fantastic, Edward Norton

The Blair Witch Project - 6/10
It might have introduced the "found footage" concept to America, yet overall it is pointless and surprisingly predictable and boring. The marketing and initial audience reaction is the real work of art, not the mundane film itself. Those obviously talented filmmakers and actors - who were able to enhance the realism with great naturalistic acting - headed in the wrong direction with this project and it makes us wonder what they could accomplish had they used the $500,000 fund correctly.

Following - 7.5/10
An intense and twisty film that never ceases to offer insights into the nature of curiosity, betrayal and innocence. 10 times better than The Blair Witch Project with one-hundredth of its budget.

The Player - 8.5/10
A funny, entertaining and always unpredictable satire on Hollywood culture and movie business. Similar to Adaptation in themes and structure, it is more lighted-hearted and filled with tons of Hollywood inside jokes and movie references. Recommended viewing for any movie fan.

[REC] - 7/10
A Spanish horror mockumentary that works effectively until it does not (when blood and deaths take over the screen). It creates a claustrophobic feel with characters whom you can relate to. And that's precisely why it ultimately disappoints.

I agree. I described it in one sentence after watching it as "Parade of grey tones".
and I'd give it 4/10 for all the wasted opportunities

you didn't get the movie. at all. congratulations for being ignorant and assuming that you know what Reitman wanted with this movie. As for your knowledge: the movie succeeds exactly it's purposes. That's why it's a good movie.
