A mutated form of a xeno as we can tell not only by his look but also by his movement.

Watched it one more time and I have to say that it got better in a repeat viewing (or atleast for me). I was able to pick up on alot more stuff than I was the first time. Plot holes were semi cleared up and I was able to appreciate what was trying to be made. I still dont think its a bad movie or great movie but really is one of the most interesting concepts.

So will Prometheus make the cut during the upcoming awards season??

Ideally I want at least Fassbender to be recognised.

I doubt it. Definitely a visual effects, art direction, sound, ect... It has atleast a nomination for technical awards.

I think some of the complains like why Wickers was running in straight line, why Millburn and Fifield got lost in the cave or why they didn't use motion capture instead of make up are nitpicking and irrelevant. But other complains like lack of character developments or lack of tension are mostly related to what audience actually expected from the film.

There is also the matter of subjectivity here. I personally cared for Shaw, Holloway and Captain's characters and since those are like the only characters you are supposed to care about I guess that's good enough.

And I think the film has a few really tense scene so the tension level also worked perfectly for me. Even though the two I mentioned aren't what I normally expect from the films I watch. Hence why lack of them won't bother me at all. Unless of course you could see the failed attempts of film makers for bringing those elements to the film, then you can consider it a flaw.

But what I did expect from the film was building an involving and engaging narrative on the substance and the main ideas which were already quite interesting to be basics of a film. The question was would Damon and Scott put the main thoughts of the film among the layers of the story or are they going to show us what they think while somehow irrelevant events are happening on the screen. That was what I feared the most that this film might be a movie about big ideas with a couple of monsters running around that has little to do with the basics of the film and are only there to make the film more thrilling or more interesting for normal moviegoers. This might be just my opinion but I would've really been disappointed if this was a horror film like Alien that has been injected a few thought provoking and philosophical ideas. (Let me prevent any confusion by saying Alien is a masterpiece of film making structure and at the end it's a better film than Prometheus, but my expectation for this film was on another level, not higher just completely different)

Interestingly enough I think the film even with all those unanswered questions ended perfectly and unless there are some really great ideas for the sequel, it's totally unnecessary. The thing is I love it when films show you things without giving you their source or backstories.

Overall I think I got what I wanted maybe just a little bit lower but still pretty close. This film more than anything is pure cinema. It's impossible for me not to appreciate the amount of magnificence in cinematic related elements of this movie. It's good enough that I think history of cinema would've lacked something without Prometheus.

Maybe Scott can film footage in a hypothetical sequel and we get one in 20 years or something. :P

Listened Lindelof and Spaihts commentaries. It was very good because they told in details what were the deleted scenes and things that were cut at script stage. They also talked about the differences between their drafts.

Listening to Scott's right now.

Edit: He curses quite a lot
