I hated and loved the audience during this film. The bit when Watanabe says "Godzilla" for the first time, there were so many unintentional laughs.
But when Godzilla defeats the first monster, there was a guy down the front right of the cinema that shouted out "Yes!" and we all laughed, which was fine because I knew they were all routing for 'zilla to win.
My thoughts on the film.......
Completely fun time at the cinema, and there are some fantastic moments, but it doesn't live up to it's moralistic concepts that were established in the 1954 version. It was like The Incredible Hulk; it decides to skip the origin story and just use it as backstory information whenever required. Wonderful CGI and I could tell that Gareth Edwards has certainly stepped up his game as a director. The acting was okay, but nothing wonderful. I found it hard to route for Aaron Taylor Johnson because he just didn't grasp any interest, but he has certain heroic qualities under his sleeve. Elizabeth Olsen is completely wasted on and serves no purpose for the plot despite some convincing emotional bits. Bryan Cranston gets an underwhelming amount of time, but he's a highlight and probably the standout. For such smaller roles, I was so intersted in Ken Watanbe and Sally Hawkins' performance. They've barely been given any character, yet still manage to make their scenes very interesting. It's certainly not the perfect film, but it's own that I know I'll take pleasure in viewing many more times.

Kinda getting sick of film criticism in today's environment. Because of twitter and youtube and w/e... more and more people are afraid to speak their minds and more and more people follow what the other guy says. Happened with a lot of movies in the recent years... People today go to the movie theater with what they read on the internet in mind. I'm seeing that among my friends as well and I tried to talk to them and tell them to get rid of that habit because in short time they'll have no more personal opinions to share.

All I know is people expected this movie to be awesome and have a more serious tone than the 90s disaster (I know that's what I want to see as well). As long as it does exactly that... then I see no problem. I'm getting sick of all this nitpicking and overanalyzing. Especially when you KNEW what to expect and what you were going to get. Not my problem you lied to yourself thinking you'll get 2001 with Monsters. Please...

It kind of makes me mad just how much people wanted out of the characters. They wanted too much character development from what I can gather reading reviews. I thought the characters were fine and their situations actually had me interested in them and hoping they would make it out. One review said "The characters were boring and had nothing to do
" ummmmm did you watch the entire ATJ plot? He fucking HALO jumped into a city with three giant monsters fighting in it to defuse a nuke that would of destroyed the city
. So boring right?

I won't be able to we this till next weekend. I was going to go Sunday but I don't have as much cash as I thought I was gonna. Next weekend I'll be ll set and have free time. I think it sounds great, even with the criticism. The teasing... well... I'll see for myself ow bad it is I suppose. Going the Jaws route with Godzilla doesnt aound so bad to me tho, and thats what it sounds like people are saying. Cant wit for that epic ass finale moment, though,.. sounds like damn solid fun.
