Anyone feels that this season so far, is leading to a series finale? I get some similiar vibes from last two episodes like in last season of Breaking Bad or Six Feet Under. It looks like everything is wrapping up. I'm shocked. I really like it.
Game of Thrones (TV)
I think it's mostly Clarke but the material she gets to work with can be blamed as well. She had her own way of portraying Daenerys' uprising which wasn't for everyone, that's true. Her story only got interesting again at the end of season 5. With rewatching the entire thing before season 6 I think her best performance was in season 1. She is improving now though and I don't think she's bad so far this season. I think it will really improve once she is actually going to do something about the situation which she so far has only done once.Master Virgo wrote:It's such a curious thing that Headey can sound arrogant with such style and Clarke fails every time, gradually becoming intolerable as it goes. Is the character this uninteresting in the books or is it Clarke and D&D's doing?£

I enjoy Clarke's acting. I don't know why everyone decided she was a bad actress. She's not or some of the big moments in her story would have fallen flat and she clearly has the fictional languages down, which it's crazy to say but her scenes so far this season have been entirely in Dothraki.
Daenerys is a thankless role most of the time. I'll judge her when it'll be over, her great stuff will likely come in the last two seasons.
Are you an apologist for everything about this show except Dorne? It's because you're extremely critical of everything else. This show seems to be the only thing you like or at least post positively about.Batfan175 wrote:I enjoy Clarke's acting. I don't know why everyone decided she was a bad actress. Clarke is a phenomenal actress; she's consistently been a bright spot throughout the series.
The comparison between Headey and Clarke regarding who has been more convincing is not only unfair against Clarke, but mostly goes against her character. Cersei can afford to be arrogant, she's been surrounded by power all her life and has also learned herself how to control it, from being the son Tywin never had to the mother of Kings. Daenerys on the other hand has always been at the whim of someone else whether it's her brother or Khal Drogo and even the dragons which could give her that aura are too powerful for her and have to be chained up or let loose. There is a reason she was most confident and even hinted at arrogance when she ruled Mereen. I could also point out how unconvincing Headey is at showing humility but...
I also disagree with Allstar that Clarke can't show strength, in fact it's one of her best attributes and it would have made her character simply fail were she incapable of that. Her every decision requires that the feign some sort of strength to hide her vulnerability and the fact that she is a woman trying to conquer the world, which is why she was so upset with Jorah and Barristan when they publicly disagreed with her decision to buy the Unsullied with one of her dragons. And of course, one of her best moments was the season 4 finale "The Children" when she realized that she can no longer control her dragons and had to chain them up. One of the most emotional moments of the series.

But I mostly blame the material tbh. I mean how good can you be when they write lines like "All men must die, but we are not men." for you or when your storyline is all about moving from one city to another showing off with your dragons and free slaves and be hailed and then doing the same thing as the next step, at least up until they've been all seized by the enemies and apparently you have to do it all over again. (Imagine if Jon Snow had to defend against yet another wildling attack and then another one after that.) I wonder how many people would find this segment with such a sluggish progress fascinating if an attractive women and a bunch of dragons weren't involved.£
That is true. George admits he wrote himself into a corner with her character but we're coming up on the end of the series so I expect major things for her character in season 7 and 8.
Her plotline in this season is mostly a plot device and the whole going back to the Dothraki was foreshadowed in season 2 and book 2." You must go backwards to go forwards."
