Given the examples of other post-apocalyptic stories he cites, I can understand why the reviewer might think the show is derivative of older, better works.

I never played the game. So I'm neutral. This felt like Walking Dead or any other Zombie apocalpyse film/series. At least the first episode. Same tropes. Same scenes. Same obstacles. Really lame. I don't get the hype Do video game players hype this because this is a nearly 1:1 remake of the game?
I will give this show a chance and watch the second episode. Maybe it will give the audience something new something fresh, other zombie films/series didn't gave us. But I doubt it.

Feel like I’m in an echo chamber here but oh well. This show is amazing and just keeps getting better somehow. I was bawling my eyes out this episode.
