Sources tell Variety that McQuarrie has signed back on to return to write and direct the next two films in the popular franchise. Sources also add that both films would be shot back-to-back — not unlike the final two “Avengers” sequels — in order to take advantage of the popularity of the series, with the first bowing summer 2021 and the second coming out in summer 2022. The release comes in 2021 to avoid conflict with Paramount and Cruise’s next big venture, “Top Gun: Maverick.”

Crazy news.

I think McQuarrie is awesome, so this is great news for me.

Aside from Nolan's films, Mission: Impossible is the only franchise/series where the action is real and it actually excites me and thrills me as a moviegoer. Nothing comes close.

I so wish Cavill was coming back. I enjoyed his character a lot and I would have loved to see him come back with a vengeance.

Much happier to see Solomon Lane likely coming back. Great villain.

I suspect they'll get some more big names like Alec Baldwin and Angela Bassett.

I wonder if Jeremy Renner will come back.

Rebecca Ferguson is most certainly coming back.

Oh for sure! Even better
since Lane and Walker kind of worked together, they would be on bad terms if Walker survived. I think something interesting could have been done with that.

"""""""""""Last""""""""""" ones.

I'm guessing that's how they'll be advertised though.
